Several Hill College student-athletes finish the 2025 track season strong
Hill College's men's and women’s track teams capped off another stellar 2025 season in several running events.
Freshman Aimee Clarke set her second Hill College 1,500m record in as many meets, holding off a slew of runners in the homestretch to win her heat at the J. Fred Duckett Invitational in Houston on April 26.
Clarke’s run in Houston also set off a flurry of personal and seasonal bests for Hill College runners. Her 5:09.14 time was 1 second better than her 5:10.14 finish at the Carl Kight Invitational in Nacogdoches on April 12 to break the record set by teammate Angela Coronado by 3 seconds.
She also broke teammate Avery McCoy’s 5,000m record with a time of 19:50.13 at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos on March 27.
Other finishers in the Houston meet included Elaina McCulloch, who knocked 10 seconds off her personal best with a time of 5:22.30.
Laila Vasquez, who ran an 18-second seasonal best of 2:33.48 in the 800m that afternoon, ran a personal best time of 5:35.04.
Katie Garza ran the school’s second fastest-ever time, 20:16.44, in the women’s 5,000m.
For the men’s team, Elmahyah Chacha finished his 1,500m heat in 3:59.33, his third successive personal best. He ran 3:59.06 at TCU the next Saturday and missed qualifying for the NJCAA Track and Field Championships by two-tenths of a second.
Max Austin (4:21.51) also ran a personal best.
