Bio
Dylan Riggins enters his first year as assistant rodeo coach under Head Rodeo Coach Chad Rutherford.
Riggins, who grew up in Kadoka, South Dakota, has an extensive rodeo career as a bareback rider. In high school, he made it to the national finals twice. Throughout his collegiate career, he went to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) a total of five times and won the Grand Canyon Region bareback riding title in 2019. After recovering from an unfortunate accident in his last CNFR appearance, where the horse flipped over and broke his sternum, collarbone, shoulder blade, and several ribs, Riggins went on compete in the Columbia River Circuit (CRC), where he made the CRC finals four times. He has also competed in the National Finals Rodeo Open (NFR Open) three times.
Riggins received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma. After graduation, he went to New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to pursue a master’s degree. He later transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, where he received his master’s degree in sports administration and was also a graduate assistant for the rodeo team.
Prior to joining Hill College, Riggins held a position at Evergreen PUF in Spokane, Washington, while he was pursuing his pro-rodeo career. Before that he was a vet clinic supervisor at VetIQ in Edin, Oklahoma.
