Bio

Gregory Cary comes to Hill College from Lamar Community College in Lamar, Colorado, where he was the head softball coach for the 2024 season. He brings a record of 148 career wins.

Prior to his time at Lamar, Cary was the head coach of the softball teams at Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas; Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas; Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York; and Monroe College in Rochelle, New York.

Under Cary’s direction at Lamar, the team had a 14-game win improvement from the previous season, while also setting numerous program records and coaching incoming freshmen. At Highland, he set a program record with 21 consecutive wins and a 40-win season, as well as one of his players receiving Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the conference.

While at Bethany College, Cary led the team to fourth in the country at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) World Series, with one of his players being named Player of the Year for the conference.

Cary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and media journalism from the State University of New York at Purchase College and an Associate of Arts degree in humanities from Corning Community College. Prior to beginning his coaching career, he played two seasons of collegiate baseball.
