Women’s basketball team looks to rebound from injury-riddled season
The Hill College women’s basketball program (5-25 overall, 3-13 conference) ended its 2024-25 campaign looking to build off the progress it had made during the season – despite some hardships along the way.
Head Women’s Basketball Coach Antreanna Brooks said injuries played a huge role this past season, forcing others to adapt and play out of their normal style.
“I believe [playing some student-athletes because of other team injuries] it has prepared my returning class for the better,” Brooks added, “because, as freshmen, they played huge minutes and had to play very big roles...and they got better throughout the year.”
Injuries also dealt Brooks an all-freshmen team for the majority of the conference games.
Arguably, Hill College is in one of the most talented conferences in the nation – as both McLennan Community College (No. 10) and Grayson College (No. 23) ended up in the National Top 25 rankings.
MCC recently ended its season after advancing two rounds in the 2025 NJCAA D1 National Women’s Basketball Tournament.
“We are in one of the best junior college conferences and regions in the country,” Brooks said. “We have MCC, Grayson College, and Collin County Community College in our conference; and New Mexico, South Plains, and Odessa in Region 5. It’s great quality basketball night in and night out.”
In all, Hill College played five teams that finished the season ranked in the Top 25.
Freshmen Jordyn Crawford and Kiah Goynes were named on the All-Conference Honorable Mention Team.
Brooks said key returners for next season include Goynes, Crawford, Te’lynn Lee-Rose and Journee Chambers (returning from a season-ending injury). The team will also add a lot of local talent, including one Louisiana native.
