Women’s soccer team still alive in quest for Region 5 Tournament appearance
The Hill College women’s soccer team heads into the second half of conference play in a three-way tie for second place behind Ranger College.
The Rebels still have a chance to compete in the Region 5 Tournament at the end of the season, but they will need to convert ties into wins.
“Currently, there is a three-way tie for second place in the region,” Hill College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jason Bond said. “We predict needing two wins out of the three remaining Region 5 games to go through. That being said, the only way to completely guarantee it is to win three out of three.”
Two of the remaining conference games will be at home (Gateway Park in Fort Worth).
“Ranger College is undefeated this season and have already earned their place in the Region V Final,” Bond added. “Between Cisco College, Western Texas College or us, whoever earns a win or tie vs Ranger will have a big advantage to secure an appearance in the Region 5 final.”
Hill College has scored a total of 12 goals in nine games so far this season – but only three in conference play.
Estrella Arriazola and Nadia Bailey lead the Rebels in scoring each with three goals in the season.
“We have been improving offensively these last few weeks,” Bonds said, and we have scored 11 goals in the last four games. I was really impressed with the types of goals the players created against Jacksonville College. We also created some strong moments against Western Texas College and Cisco College in regional play. So, we are moving in the right direction.”
The 2025 NJCAA Region 5 Women’s Soccer Tournament will be held Oct. 29 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
