Women’s soccer team narrowly misses 12th consecutive Region 5 Final appearance
November 5, 2025
Hopes of a 12th consecutive Region 5 playoff championship fell short as the Hill College women’s soccer team narrowly missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013.
The Rebels missed an opportunity to participate in the Region 5 Finals after losing, 1-0, to Cisco College Oct. 17 in the final game of the season. Since the Rebels had tied Cisco in their first meeting, Hill College needed to either win or tie in order to advance to the regional final.
“We started the second half of Region 5 play strong with a tie against undefeated Ranger College and a win over Western Texas College on the road,” Hill College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jason Bond said. “We put ourselves in a good position to advance to the Region 5 Final, but unfortunately we came up short in the last game.”
Despite an overall 4-6-3 record (1-2-3 in conference), Bond said he hopes to build off the positive things this year’s team has done – and is ready to recruit and prepare for a productive 2026 campaign.
“I know exciting times are ahead for the Hill Women’s Soccer program, and how this season ended is not going to discourage me in any way,” he added. “If anything, it is adding fuel to the fire to develop our current returners and recruit a strong 2026 class...and my plan is to build a roster where there is true competition at every position.”
Sophomore midfielder Nadia Bailey and sophomore goalkeeper Raelynn Smith received All-Conference/All-Region honors during the 2025 season.
Bailey was the leading scorer for the Rebels with four goals on the season, and Smith only gave up six goals during conference play.
